Learning To See Workshop
Where do we get images for our painting and writing? We start by asking questions. Questions are like a bucketful of marvels thrown to startle the senses. They alert us to stalk something larger than our everyday selves. Writers and artists know this and keep notebooks, journals, sketchbooks, pictures, descriptions, and notes on scrap paper. Asking questions along the way, we stumble upon many creative insights.
Through activities in this workshop, you collect what comes your way through your senses. Mess around with images. Record the connections between things. Write word images and mark pictures on your paper. Play. Let the images hang out together. Make it up as you go along. Let one thing lead to another. Find the wonder in this sense-riddled world and carry it all the way home. The finished journal is your idea book, your collection of experiences filled with notes, images, and personal visions.
